Space Probes
I have to say again talking about space missions that take many years to complete is just too long for impatient people like me. First of all, I have gotten old and won’t be around for many of them to be completed. I mentioned the fact scientists want to launch a probe to catch up to the asteroid Oumuamua which passed by the earth. If launched on time it will take 26 years to catch up. They want to do this because they suspect Oumuamua is itself an extraterrestrial probe which was sent here from far outside our solar system and possibly from another galaxy. It seems to me imaginations are running wild on this one.
Can you imagine waiting 26 years to catch up to this object which we already witnessed. Scientists had said when it passed by, the reasons they thought it might be an extraterrestrial probe was it had very thin skin and could have had equipment inside and it had a very odd shape for an asteroid. It was cylindrical shaped. I can’t help but feel they are hiding something else about Oumuamua from us. It seem there would have to be more they know and are not telling us if they are this interested.
Over the years I have heard many objects which come are flying in our solar system called alien probes. With all the UFO sightings it seems to me extraterrestrials wouldn’t need probes because they have enough equipment here already to examine every facet of our planet and people. I do have to admit the universe is probably teeming with intelligent life so even though it looks like many have come here, there are probably many other civilization which are not as advanced so they are using probes.
The problem with the idea the Oumuamua asteroid is a probe from another galaxy is the fact there is a time element involved. The closest galaxy to the Milky Way is the Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy and it is 42000 light years away. The Oumuamua object was not traveling anywhere near light speed and if it was a probe would have taken millions of years to reach us even from Canis Major. That means the race which sent it might not even live anymore. Of course, we have no way of knowing the life space of alien races if they exist.
Speaking about life spans some people who have been abducted have claimed to have spoken to their captors who were sometimes friendly. One of the questing sometimes asked was how long they lived. One alien who was the captain of a UFO was said to have told an abductee they lived for approximately 500 years. When we talk about how many years could humans eventually live, some scientists believe the longest will be 150 years and they say they have come to this conclusion because they believe that is the limit for the human body to repair itself. Sorry I don’t believe that and I will tell you why. They are basing this on the body’s abilities now, but this is sort of what we were told over the years by not being able to fly, not being able to break the sound barrier and never being able to get off the planet.
Things chance and methods and medical discoveries will probably come out which will allow the body to keep repairing itself, for what length of time I don’t know, but it could ultimately be without end. We will never see this, but if we look at the progress, we have made in the last hundred years in medicine and medical procedures, improvements might be so vast in a couple of hundred years it will change life spans on the entire planet.
There are other alien probes suspected of being or having been in our solar system besides Oumuamua. One type is known as von Neumann probes. They are being called by this name because in the 1940s a scientist named John von Neumann had theorized there could be alien probes which were very small and self-replicating. This probes supposedly would fly through space and when they came across something interesting, they would drop off replicates of themselves to investigate and send back data. As far as I know none of these have been seen, but they would be very had to discover since they would be small.
We have started to send out tiny probes ourselves, but so far, they are not self-replicating. They are called cubesats. The cubesats usually weigh less then 3 pounds. They can go down to what is known as a Femtosatellite which can weigh anyway from 3.5 ounces to 0.35 ounces. It has been said we will soon be creating self-replicating probes. Think about this, how hard would it be to detect a probe which is only a little more than one third of an ounce circling your planet?
In order for probes to become practical not just for using on close by planets, they need to have a couple of abilities. The first is they have to be able to reach their targets in a reasonable amount of time. Second, they need some sort of fast communication to send back their data. The ability to not be readily detected would also be handy because if we find a race which is not as advanced, we wouldn’t want to scare them.
There has been a lot of talk about a prove which is said to be orbiting our planet and has done so for ten thousand years. It is said to be able to hide from us when it is not gathering info. It was named the Black Knight. There have been photos posted which claim to show it. When Nikola Tesla received a strange radio signal in 1899, it was from something in the sky above the earth. He said the way the signal presented itself proved it came from an intelligent source. Tesla said, “Most certainly, some planets are not inhabited, but others are, and among these there must exist life under all conditions and phases of development.” Today, some believe the signal he received was from the Black Knight.
We are on the verge of reaching some of the planets and moons in the distant parts of our solar system, but this is only a start. I am certain we will solve many of the problems holding us back from going beyond the solar system and to other nearby solar systems. We will keep learning and improving until some day in the distant future we might even figure out how to get to other galaxies.
