Looking for Life Here we go. A NASA scientist has stated we could find life on Mars within two years. What does this mean, how can anyone predict not only finding life but when it will happen? Some might say this is an educated man and top in his field, but what would that prove? I for one am tired of hearing about things which will happen and being told when they will. This just means one thing to me and it is something is known which we are not privy to. Perhaps we have found life on Mars and that fact is going to be told to us within two years because we are “not ready.” One scientist has already said something to the effect we are not ready for what we will find. How does he know what we will find? This sure sounds like there are secrets being kept which are about Mars. I wonder how many of you know a recording was made by NASA of what is under the surface of Mars. The sound on the recording sounds like a steady metallic hum and was recorded by the rover. As I have said many times it certainly looks like Mars is covered with pieces of structures, some of these pieces are readily identifiable and can be nothing else but walls and columns. There is no denying there are some very strange things on the Red Planet and we certainly have not been given the opportunity to explore these places even though every once in a while, we can examine a field in a photograph and find these things along with pieces of statues and such. When we talk about life, we have already contaminated Mars so I wouldn’t be very excited if some scientist says they discovered microbes which match those on earth. Why is it we keep hearing some scientist or think tank operative state we are not ready for the discovery of extraterrestrial life? We have never been more ready! We understand science and know no matter what an alien might be capable of it is not magic, which it would have been thought of years ago, but it is advanced technology. Probably the biggest problem for us would be the fact we would seem like children to these aliens as far as our capabilities. We would have to realize we were not top dog anymore and that might be a problem. The problem might not be for us individually, but for our government, especially those who are in charge of defense, which would be helpless to resist if a war broke out. What could this hum be on Mars? As I said it sounds like machinery. It could have some natural cause and that is what we are being told, but maybe this is not truthful. Could there have been an advanced race which lived on the surface of Mars who had to move underground to survive when the atmosphere started to drift into space? Maybe some even got away but there was just too many to remove. Humans have built a lot of underground cities in ancient times so the idea of living underground is not foreign to us. As a matter of fact, many underground shelters have been built for government officials in case of nuclear war. It would be natural for a race which couldn’t escape to try for the next best thing and build underground cities which could support life by having the complex machinery to do it. One thing which struck me was when I got a look at the spaceship which was built by SpaceX to fly to Mars, it looked just like something out of an old science fiction movie. Recently Elon Musk the head of SpaceX was asked if aliens exist and he said no. This made some scientists happy but others stuck to their guns and said in a universe this big there has to be other life out there. I am glad to see this is the new thinking, because I remember when all would have answered we were alone. Now announcements are being made about all sorts of possibilities for life. The last one I heard was about Enceladus, a moon orbiting Saturn. Scientists said there were lakes on that moon which contain the building blocks of life. This moon has become one of the most popular places in our solar system because it is felt by scientists it has the best chance of life. It has oceans covered in ice. We are talking about a small moon which has a diameter of about 300 miles, and yet NASA is planning a trip there and it might contain a custom built submarine which can burn through the ice and get into the ocean. It is thought there is a chance marine life might exist. Being small and distant might not matter if the oceans contain thermal vents to warm them. Some think it is possible we might find the Enceladus equivalent of cat fish or carp there. If the scientists are correct and life appears in places because they have been bombarded with life forming material than it could be possible there might be some types of life on other planets and moons which might match what we have on earth. Environment also plays a role in what life looks like so there could be some strange looking life also. I have said many times we could come across life and not know it was life. It might look like a rock or something else we would never connect to a living organism. Before we get too excited about life appearing on exoplanets which we can’t reach right now, we should make it a priority to explore every planet, micro planet and moon in our solar system. There could be life here we are not aware of. There might only be 8 planets or 9 depending how you feel, but there were about 350 moons in our solar system the last time I checked and more keep getting found. There are so many places left to explore it should keep us busy for generations if not longer, perhaps by then we will figure out how to travel a lot faster bringing those exoplanets into range of our spacecraft. I just don’t think we should be wasting too much time exploring for exoplanets when we can’t reach them and have planets and moons right here to explore, and some of them are truly intriguing and have the ability to be hiding life.
