In ancient times some cultures were fascinated by our skulls and I presume our brains. They thought cutting a hole in the skull of someone would let out the evil spirits and amazingly, not only did some people live through this procedure but there have some skulls which have been found which had more than one trepanning. Trepanning is the term for this procedure and means making a burr hole. Thank God we don’t do this anymore. I couldn’t help but think about this when I was reading about a startup company in California which wants to use tiny robots to go into our brains. Of course, this has nothing to do with trepanning and these procedures can’t be compared.
The tiny robots would be used to repair illnesses of the brain. I don’t know how many science fiction stories there have been about doing this, but there have been a lot over the years. Scientists talk about using robots to clean out blood vessels, eat cancer cells and do all sorts of other things which could improve our health. It would be great if a tiny robot could remove a blood clot. There is so many problems associated with these things right now, but hopefully in the future scientists will figure out how to get these robots to do want they want and then leave the body.
As time goes by, material science keeps advancing. One of the areas being worked on is improving the strength of parts in planes and space vehicles. To this end a new material has been developed. NASA has invented a metal alloy using a 3D printer and they are saying the parts are far stronger and more durable than those currently used. As far as manned space flight goes in the future, instead of carrying all different parts on a manned ship for repairs, only a 3D printer would be needed and they could just print the parts they need, if any. The new alloy is GRX-810.
A doctor in Brazil talked about an incredible breakthrough while he was doing cancer research. I know one would think from reading the first sentence it was a cancer breakthrough, but it was not. It was entirely different. While using a custom device he said he was shocked to receive a message from extraterrestrials. Take a look, a vague face of what is known as a Grey alien appeared. The device was said to be a particle accelerator which was used to try and ease the pain for people with cancer. It was not a huge device like the 20 miles Large Hadron Collider, it had a monitor which seemed to be connected to it.
Lately, there has been a lot of interest in those robots which look similar to dogs. They have four legs, a dog like body and a camera. Included is a sort of tool on the front. Recently at least one police force or more has been using them for crowd control. Another use has been found for them in the scientific community, specifically archaeology. It seems archaeologists encounter a lot of dangerous areas on digs. They could be inside ancient structures, tunnels and tombs, to name a few places. It turns out some now feel this dog like robot is perfect for exploring these places before humans go into them to check out their structural integrity. One of the robots named Spot is being tested at Pompeii Archaeological Park.
Teleportation is being talked about again. This time it is not about breaking people into atoms and reassembling them at a distant location, it is about a quicker way to send data. It is called quantum teleportation. When a signal is sent anywhere it loses some of its power but scientists are hoping they can prevent the loss of channels or at least lessen it. This is an important feature which could lead to the installation of the quantum internet. This will give far more abilities to people using it than the internet today. Scientists claim this information would be impossible to be accessed by a third party. Where have I heard this before? Oh yeah, I remember it was with the nuclear codes many years ago before they were hacked in a test by a guy with just an Apple computer.
There is a small rocket company which thinks it can beat SpaceX to Mars. The name of the company is Pythom Space. They want to be on Mars by 2024. They are building a new rocket, spacecraft and a lander for their Mars project. There are some complaints from people which accuse the company of not using proper safety measures. An ancient mystery is yet to be solved. How did a mass grave buried under volcanic ash happen 1,000 miles from the eruption? The Yellowstone volcano had the eruption and it was incredible, being 1,000 times more powerful than the Mount Saint Helens eruption in 1980. When people get caught in an eruption, suffocation is the most common cause of death. This occurs when you breathe in the particles. The grave did not contain the bodies of people, but of animals. It seems the ash traveled really far.
When some people hear the term reverse engineering, they immediately think of crashed UFOs being reverse engineered by countries like the United States, but the truth is, most reverse engineering is taking place between countries. Every time one country invents or improves a military device, its enemies try and get one of the devices to reverse engineer it. I am not only talking about airplanes, but also rockets, ships and any device deemed to be technically ahead of the country wanting it.
Russia and China seem to be ahead of the United States in hypersonic missiles, but we are catching up fast. Hypersonic missiles are very fast and can change course in flight making them extremely hard to shoot down. Many can also carry a nuclear warhead. Recently one of the top Chinese scientists in their hypersonic program defected to the United States and we have also made a test flight of one. The name of the missile tested was the HAWC. It is believed the missile reached speeds greater than Mach 5 or five times the speed of sound. It is thought someday, these types of missiles will reach many times that speed.
