Mysteries and Secrets
The world is full of secrets. We find some of these mysteries almost everywhere. We have them in our history, both ancient and more recent. If we look up at our skies there are all sorts of mysterious objects in our airspace. Even our bodies are hiding things from us. It is amazing to me almost anywhere we look there are secrets and mysteries. Space is no exception. Perhaps we will find space will have more mysteries than anything else.
I would like to start out by talking about the mysteries we have in our own bodies. Take DNA for example, we still do not know what some of it is for. We used to call this junk DNA, but lately scientists are beginning to think that part of DNA might also serve a function. Another mystery is why some people die young while some reach very old age. Our bodies may be similar, but some seem to be more fragile than others and are more easily hurt by diseases and physical trauma. Some people just seem to have longevity in their family and others think this can be credited to their genes. We certainly can’t be sure why this happens and there are those who believe it is divine destiny. Why is it some people can smoke their entire lives and it doesn’t affect them and others get all sorts of diseases from it and die? Why are our internal clocks more suited to Mars than Earth and why would the gravitational force on Mars be more suited to us, especially to women giving birth?
History is full of secrets and we seem to be beginning to break into the mystery. History is a tough topic to analyze since much of history is incorrect, because the people that reported it, such as ancient rulers, either embellished it, tor straight up lied. We also got a lot wrong. For example, we can’t really tell the age of ancient stone structures so we try and find ancient references to them and date the dirt around them. Many times, we just guess as educated as it might be. Some of the stories we heard about ancient cities which we thought were just that, stories, have turned out to be true. We can’t even be sure how the ancients were able to do some of the things they accomplished, which were so advanced for the time, we can’t even do them today.
The sky above us is full of secrets and mysteries. Some of the secrets have to do with our own governments. There is no doubt some of the objects identified as UAPs, formerly known as UFOs, are secret government projects. An example was the Nighthawk stealth plane we had been keeping under wraps and finally admitted to during the Iraq war. Before that it must have been taking test flights and was probably spotted more than once, and due to its odd-looking design could have been thought to be an alien device. Who knows how many advanced planes we have been testing and which were misidentified? Then there are the really strange objects like saucers, spheres and boomerang shaped objects, just to mention some of them. Are we ever going to find out our planet is being visited by extraterrestrials?
As I said, space could turn out to have the most secrets. For example, what made the universe form, is there more than one universe, or does our universe go on forever? When I ask the question, what made the universe form, I am not looking for the answer it was the big bang. I am looking more at the mechanics of things. By the way the big bang theory is falling out of favor with some scientists who found among other things the universe is expanding at different speeds in different places when an explosion should have been more even. Why is there so much water being discovered everywhere? A huge ocean was found floating in space. This ocean is so large it has 140 trillion times all the water on earth and it is surrounding a black hole. By the way we still do not know what is inside a black hole.
The earth also has its mysteries. Take the age of the earth for example. Most scientists claim it is 4.5 billion years old, but some others believe it could be a lot older. A strange mass has been found under Africa and also on the moon. We don’t even know if other intelligent, really ancient races existed before us. There was enough time for this to happen several times. The problem is the earth is so dynamic; the evidence would probably be wiped out. Even if some still exist, they might be really far down, too far to see. Some of the ancient races who built incredible structures had no language and yet they managed to do precise measurements on structures which allowed them to monitor the movement of different objects in the heavens. This is another mystery.
Science has its own mysteries. To me one of the biggest is why is quantum physics so different than Newtonian physics? Some of the things we have found out about it seem to defy common sense, but at the same time have shown us there is much more to understanding life than we suspected. Take the double split experiments for example. A photon, which is a particle of light, passes through one of two slits. There are different results however if the experiment has someone watching it or not. If the experiment is watched the photon goes through one slit, if not watched it goes through both slits at the same time. It blows my mind that the act of watching an experiment can change the result. Another strange thing was the discovery of entanglement. Scientists found out they could take an atom they entangled and changes to it would register on the other entangled atom instantly at any distance even at the end of the universe. This discovery seems to somehow get around the limitation on light speed. Lastly, I would like to mention the placebo effect. Why is it if some people think they are taking medicine for a medical condition and it is a placebo, they improve anyway? If we ever found out the real answer this might be the end of the pharmaceutical industry. Some think this is why they don’t explore this phenomenon.
There are more than enough mysteries everywhere to be solved and maybe many more to be discovered.
