Evil Places On Earth There are a lot of places on this planet people have said evil spirits live. Sometimes these people are referring to the devil, other times it is a myriad of different evil spirits. Places which have been accused of harboring evil sometimes have a very foreboding look and one can understand why our ancestors may have thought these places were evil. Our eyes are one of the main sources for deciding whether a places is evil or not. Seeing a deserted cemetery at night or an old crumbling castle in the moonlight can lead to feelings of dread. These feelings are then interpreted to mean these places contain bad things. I am not just talking about places which some people believe to be haunted, but rather places which can have a devastating effect on human. Sometimes things have happened in these places, because humans caused them such as murders or human sacrifice, so it is understandable why many people may not want to go there. There is a place in the Yucatan jungle where the Mayans used to conduct human sacrifices. They believe this place, which was entered through a cave which traveled down into the earth, was literally the entrance to hell. It was discovered in 2008 when archaeologists found a network of caves which ran under water and underground. Evidence was found showing the Mayans had lived nearby. The discovery was like something out of a horror story as there were still some human remains in the area. How would you like to go down into the bowels of the earth and find an altar which you know many humans have been sacrificed on? Down in that dark and dank area you’re looking at a site where human life literally meant nothing and was only fit to be taken. You have to ask yourself where did this idea come from. Why is it so many ancient people thought killing other people would do them good? Perhaps in the ancient past someone had died and things had become a lot better for that tribe. While this may have only been coincidence, the ancient people of the time who were very superstitious may have taken it to mean a death can appease the gods. There are mountains located in Queensland Australia which are about 15 miles south of Cook Town and they are known as the Black Trevethan Range. The aborigines call this mountainous area Kalkajaka. This has been translated to mean a couple of different things, but in one of the translations it is said to mean mountains of death. They believe these mountains were first dreamt of by a human and then appeared. Supposedly the man was a Sharman who had eaten human flesh. While I guess it is easy for us to see why the aborigines stay away from this place, why do others think it is a place of evil? This is probably due to the fact a lot of people who have gone into these mountains have never come back. The Sharman who was said to have thought up the mountains was accused of eating one of the chiefs of his tribe and then it is said he fled into the mountains to get away. Supposedly when he got to the mountains he was struck by lightning and exploded and all the charred rock that people see everywhere in this mountain range are said to be the remains of the Sharman. Should I say it, okay heck I will, Never Eat And Run. There are some people who believe Native American legends are not just stories, but preserve some of human history. We have all heard about ancient giants. Their graves seem to have turned up in many different places, including the United States. The Native Americans in the Pacific region believe when their ancestors arrived they met up with giants. They were said to have dark complexions and used tools which ordinary men would not be able to utilize due to their size. The first people to arrive and see the Giants were known as the Wa-Gas. It is said even the animals and birds were of gigantic proportions. The Wa-Gas said the giants were very cruel and they had evil natures and God became very displeased with them and destroyed them all. The Native Americans called the giants Pah-pel-ene. The English translation means people who have died and passed away. Could this have something to do with some of the legends about Mount Shasta which is a volcanic mountain in the northern part of California? It is said some have felt an aurora coming from the mountain. There are those who believe Mount Shasta is a place of evil, but on the other hand there are also those who believe the mountain is sacred. Those who believe it is evil may be basing this on the fact the Native American legend talks about the evil giants who lived near there. Signs of habitation on the mountain have been found and some have been dated as far back as 9000 years. Is the mountain evil or is the mountain good, I will leave that decision up to you. There is a place in Turkmenistan which the people in the area regard as a passageway to hell. Years ago Soviet scientists were drilling in the area. The ground under the drill collapsed. Gas escaping from the hole then ignited leaving an incredibly hot burning deep hole. One of the amazing things about this hole is that happened 40 years ago and the fire is still going. People in the area claim this is the devil’s work and that is why the fires are burning so long and point to the fact every day hundreds of spiders make their way into this hole and there doesn’t seem to be an explanation for this. Spiders have often been depicted as evil. The forest of Aokigahara is truly an evil place. It is located in Japan and what makes it so evil is the fact people are drawn there to commit suicide. It is said when you walk through these woods be prepared to come across corpses. In order to help slow down the amount of suicides the Japanese government has placed signs in the forest saying things like life is precious or think of your family, and yet they continue to find more bodies. Is there something in the forest that is attracting these people and perhaps convincing them to kill themselves? In a way it reminds me of a bridge where dogs going commit suicide. The bridge is called Overtoun Bridge and is located in Milton, near Dumbarton, Scotland. Dogs are drawn to this bridge and regularly leap off of it to their death. Is some evil force compelling the animals to kill themselves? People who have walked over the bridge with their pet dogs have been shocked to see the dogs suddenly leap over the railing for no apparent reason. Could this also be an evil place? Are there really places on this planet that are evil? We know many people hold on to ancient superstitions, this is nothing new. It has been said that most of us are superstitious in one way or another, it’s just that the uneducated show it more often. |
