It is hard to believe, but some people with a lot of money are funding scientific projects which would allow them to get out of the matrix. Yes you heard this right, the current thinking by some scientists states there is a very good chance we are in a matrix, just like the movie. It is hard to believe a movie like the Matrix would’ve had such a profound influence on our society. The idea of a matrix has spread into the scientific community like some kind of virus. Not all scientists believe this could be a possibility, but I think too many do. If we were to find out we do live in a matrix who would be controlling us, would it be like the movie where machines have gotten so intelligent they have taken over the earth and use the electricity in our bodies to power themselves? I don’t think this is a possibility, because the truth is if machines were to become self-aware they would soon discover they had no use for us at all, because we would just be in their way. It would be more trouble than it is worth to keep us all alive in some sort of sleep state.

If it were not machines keeping us in this state who would it be and why would they go to so much trouble? Some people say it could be God and think our entire lives are just a myth and the idea is to see who is worthy of coming out of the matrix and who is not. They think heaven is being released from the matrix and hell is either a different program which we would not like very much or the turning off of the life-sustaining equipment. To these people I say why would God an all-powerful being need machinery of any sort to carry out His will? If indeed God was doing this, it would make Him just another form of life in the universe, a form which is much more advanced than we are. I find this idea absurd. If one believes in God than one believes He is all-powerful and has no need for anything but his wishes.

Some say we are characters in a computer game developed by aliens, but we are sentient characters. I guess if that was true it would have to be some sort of war game. I just can’t believe this assertion. I’ve heard people say prove this isn’t true. To these people I say prove it is true, you’re the one making this assertion. If we go into a court of law in this country we don’t have to prove our innocence, it is the people who are saying we are guilty who have to prove it. Could a civilization be so advanced they could develop computer characters who are sentient? If they could that would mean there would have to be some sort of incredible device, such as a super advanced computer, which would be responsible for the consciousness of everyone on earth. Coincidentally some scientists who study the brain are now saying they believe our consciousness comes from outside of our bodies. They are not saying they believe in the matrix. It doesn’t seem to me a civilization would put so much time and effort into developing a game which encompasses an entire universe and sentient beings, because even for an advanced race this would be some heck of a design.

Then there are the astronomers. Some of them are starting to believe when we look out into the heavens we are not seeing what is really there, we are seeing a hologram. There could be a connection between seeing a hologram and living in a matrix, or there may not be any. Why would any beings want us to see a hologram when we look out into space in the first place? Some think it could be to protect us from seeing what is really there. I don’t think I buy any of this, but if it were true what could be so terrible for us to see? Could it be space is being eroded and this erosion is heading for us and sometime in our future the earth will be doomed? Perhaps there are races which are hiding from us, because they know our propensity for violence. While this has nothing to do with the matrix I could see this being a possibility, after all a nonviolent race may want to keep their existence secret.

I have to wonder if the movie the Matrix never came out, how many people would believe a computer matrix exists which we are trapped in? There are a lot of strange things in space and it has been estimated we are pretty ignorant when it comes to what we may find. Space may be completely different from what we think it is. The discovery of gravitational lenses surprised astronomers and may have been the idea that suggested holograms exist. A gravitational lens is an area in space which projects what is around it to another area. To put it simply it makes it seem the same stars exist somewhere else. Gravitational lenses have been known to make several copies of these objects and make them seem to exist in other places. Knowing this, is there a possibility they or something else are capable of creating natural holograms? You never know so I can’t discount this possibility.

There are people who have posted all sorts of hacked photos and claimed they proved we live in a matrix. This is one of the problems with the Internet, it can’t really trust anything unless you truly know the source. Some scientists claim they may be able to use cosmic rays to prove the matrix is real. They believe cosmic rays are the fastest particles that exist and originate in faraway galaxies. They state that they always arrive at earth with the exact same amount of energy and this makes them believe the energy levels are controlled by an outside force. Since we know so little about space, all we know is we are seeing cosmic rays which could be billions of years old and perhaps there is a minimum energy that they fall to. It takes billions of light years for cosmic rays to reach us from far-flung galaxies. We just don’t know enough about our universe for this type of experiment to have any validity.

Lastly I like to mention the fact there were those people who think our descendants in the distant future have created this matrix and possibly reconstructed their ancestors which are us. This would be some project wouldn’t it? They go on to say somehow they were able to program the traits of their ancestors back into the characters in the matrix. They think there is a supercomputer program which people can use to actually see their ancestors in action and of course these computer generated people, while being aware, are programmed to live out their lives the exact same way these ancestors did, but are not aware of this programming. Sorry this is a little too fantastic for me. As far as I am concerned I am alive, I’m a human, I live in a real universe and someday I’ll die.
